The context
One of the main considerations in designing a dental clinic is the choice of materials used to fit out the spaces. The specific requirements of medical environments impose a series of well-defined decisions on the designer, where the most challenging task is to balance technical and regulatory needs with functional and aesthetic requirements.
Raised flooring often proves to be the best solution, ensuring full access to the subfloor for inspections, maintenance, or modifications to the complex network of systems, with the option of creating sealed raised floors where required.
The project
Newfloor manufactured and installed more than 200 sqm of T38HAK raised flooring in a dental clinic in Genoa. The panels feature a high-density wood chipboard core (720 kg/m³), an aluminium foil applied to the underside serving as a vapour barrier, and a porcelain stoneware finish. The porcelain stoneware covering is from the Micron 2.0 collection by Imola, in the Beige colour for one room, and from the Prestigio collection by Refin, in the Calacatta colour for the rest of the clinic, both in the 60×60 cm format. The chosen finish not only provided the clinic with a modern and elegant appearance, but also ensured excellent wear resistance and easy maintenance.
The galvanized steel structure supplied for this project is of the SNFL type, with light stringers and pedestals of various heights, ranging from 7 to 18 cm.
